The Place of Eduction Today

There are always those who debate the success of the Education system at delivering the correct blend of learning. Education as we know it today had its roots in the Church School education system of several hundred years ago.

The large public schools we know today were ushered in at the behest of the rich English and American businessmen of a century ago and were envisaged with the idea of creating suitably educated workers for the corporations of that era.

Our current schools focus on producing graduates with a diverse range of skills. Students who are the Jack of All Trades - The Master of None. This is a very frustrating state of affairs for teachers and parents alike as most have an opinion about what the children need to learn and see the education system as failing to assist the students to achieve that learning.

The reality is that the corporations of today want flexible workers who have a non specialised academic knowledge and who can function in a variety of simple working environments. Workers who are able to change jobs and learn new ones as they are required too.

Thus the education system that we have has not arisen by coincidence, it is a carefully planned and coordinated contrivance by powerful organisations that have controlled the political, economic and educational landscape for the last two hundred years.
